Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is SAECC a religious program?
    SAECC is located on the grounds of a church. We are not affiliated with the church and do not off a religious curriculum. We are a developmental program.
  • How much is your tuition?
    Fees for the SY 2024-25 are as follows: Tadpoles (6 weeks to 1-year-old) and Frogs (1 to 2 years old) the rate is $2600 Caterpillars (18 to 30 months old) the rate is $2500 Butterflies (2 to 3 years old) the rate is $2400 PreK3 and PreK 4 (3 to 4 years old) the rate is $2275
  • Does SAECC offer sibling discounts?
    SAECC does not offer sibling discounts. We believe our rates are fair and slightly below market especially considering what we offer.
  • Does SAECC offer financial aid?
    SAECC offers financial aid through the OSSE’s Vouchers Program and an In-House Subsidy. Spaces are limited and qualifications are determined at the time of acceptance.
  • Does SAECC hire qualified staff?
    Yes. SAECC hires staff members that have education and experience in early childhood education. Check out our staff page.
  • Does SAECC conduct background checks on all personnel?
    Yes. SAECC only hires staff members who have obtained favorable health clearances, CPS clearances, FBI clearances, reference checks, drug and alcohol screenings, and TB screenings.
  • Is the Early Childhood Center open all year?
    SAECC is a year round program. We close on all federal holidays, the day after Thanksgiving, the week between Christmas and New Year, the Friday after Easter, and the last three days of August (or before the Labor Day holiday)
  • How do I register my child?
    Upon acceptance to the program, you must complete a contract and submit a deposit equivalent to one months tuition. A few weeks before your child’s start date you will be expected to complete an intake visit. During the intake visit, all enrollment forms are submitted, questions are answered regarding our policies and procedures, and the transition into our program is reviewed.
  • What time does the center open and close?
    SAECC is opens at 7:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm M-F. We charge $1.00 late fee for every minute after 6:00 pm.
  • Where do I go to drop off and pick up my child?
    During COVID-19, children will be dropped off at designated entrances. Tadpoles and Frogs are dropped off at the back patio entrance. Caterpillars and Butterflies are dropped off at the main entrance. Elephants 3 and Eagles 1 & 2 are dropped off at the lower level entrance. School Age children are dropped off at the gymnasium.
  • Is there designated parking?
    SAECC has a designated parking lot in the front of the campus facing Wisconsin Ave.
  • What is the staff-Child Ratio for this center?

  • What about food?
    SAECC provides breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Our food is catered by Good Foods. We offer a healthy menu with vegetarian options. Parents of infants must provide food and milk.
  • Are there recommended guidelines for packaging a lunch?
    If parents decide to bring a packaged lunch, a medical substitution form must be on file.
  • What time is lunch?
    Infants feed on demand. Toddlers eat at 11:30am Preschoolers eat at 12:00pm
  • What will I need for my child?
    Babies: 5 changes of clothes, 5 pairs of socks, 5 crib sheets, 5 light blankets, 25 diapers (per week), 2 boxes of wipes, bottles food for one day. *All items must be labeled. Toddlers and Preschoolers: 2 changes of clothes, 2 pairs of socks, 1 crib sheet, 1 light blanket, pull ups and/or underwear, sippy cups if under 2.
  • Does the child center staff administer medication?
    Medicine is administered if a consent form is provided. Medication should not be left in lunch boxes or cubbies. Medication should not be mixed in food, bottles or drinks. We do not administer fever reducers or aspirins.
  • What about diaper bags?
    Please do not leave diaper bags in the center. Extra clothes, diaper ointments, diapers, can be placed in the child’s cubby and designated spaces in the bedroom.
  • Will my child be able to nap?
    Children nap for 2 hours daily. If the child does not want to sleep, they are still required to rest. Children who nap should bring a sheet and small thin blanket from home that is clearly marked with their name.
  • Is there a dress code?
    SAECC does not have a dress code. However, clothing should be the type that can be managed easily by young, inexperienced fingers. Weather permitting the children will go out to the playground daily. Please dress them appropriately (i.e. boots, gloves, hats, scarves, etc.). Also, please mark all clothing with the child’s first and last name. It’s important the child wears clothing that launders easily due to these activities. Barrettes and other small hair accessories present a choking hazard to the children, therefore are not permitted. Children must wear shoes that cover their toes.
  • Can my child bring toys from home?
    SAECC kindly ask that toys and playthings remain home. Due to the number of children, we cannot be responsible for any item that is misplaced or broken. If the child has a security toy, please mark it clearly with the child’s full name.
  • What are the discipline procedures at the center?
    The children will be encouraged to discuss their feelings of anger with the teacher and/or peers. Absolutely no physical form of punishment is allowed. We redirect undesired behavior and encourage children to “Take Some Time for Yourself” or “Cool Down” in order to settle down. Positive role modeling and encouragement of appropriate behavior is used.
  • What will happen in the case of an emergency?
    You will be called and emailed. You will be required to come to the center as quickly as possible and take your children home. For medical emergencies your child will be taken to the nearest hospital.
  • Does the center celebrate birthdays?
    We will be happy to celebrate your child’s birthday at the center. If you wish to bring a simple treat (cookies, cupcakes, etc.) for the occasion, please make arrangements ahead of time with the staff for the specific day. All birthday parties start at 3:30pm. Party bags and balloons are not allowed.
  • Are parent volunteers welcomed?
    Yes. Please make arrangements in advance. We encourage parents to participate in the Room Readers Program, Share Your Passion Project, and to accompany us on field trips. There are also opportunities to join our various committees, the Parents’ Association, Room Representatives, and Board of Directors. ​We also accepted donations such as books, gently worn clothing, crib sheets, and office supplies.
  • Does SAECC offer part-time care?
    SAECC does not offer a part-time option at this time.
