Thank you for your interest in St. Albans Early Childhood Center
Here at SAECC, we believe that young children learn best by doing. Learning requires observing, exploring, and experimenting to find out how things work and why they work the way they do. At SAECC we pride ourselves in expanding children's imaginations creatively through the use of real materials and by encouraging them to explore the world around them by using all of their senses: touching, tasting, smelling, looking and listening.
Our educational curriculum is based upon child-initiated and teacher-facilitated activities. Teachers plan and supervise activities. Consequently, this practice enhances children’s self-esteem, encourages problem solving, and expands language development. We respect children’s developmental stages by tailoring activities and expectations to the age, interests and abilities of the individual child. Every aspect of the learning experience is considered. This includes the types of activities planned, the teaching strategy utilized, the way the environment is organized, the selection of toys and materials, the daily schedule, as well as the language staff use with the children. Every component is designed to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and to give each child a successful start in school. Above all else, we want children to enjoy their day, make friends and to benefit developmentally from their early learning experience.
We would be delighted to welcome you and your child to St. Albans Early Childhood Center (SAECC). We are confident that your child will have a nurturing and stimulating child care experience with us.
Submit an Application for our Waitlist
In order to be considered for enrollment, a prospective parent must submit an application to the wait list at the time of interest or after a scheduled tour. Applications are accepted online through our Online Application Process , or you can mail the application form to our Tenley Campus: 4404 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016. Waitlist Guidelines
We have a rolling admissions policy at SAECC. This means that your child can be selected anytime there is an opening. Enrollment offers are sent via email. If your family is notified you will be given 48 hours to respond. Should you decide to enroll, a deposit in the amount of one month’s tuition must be submitted along with a contract. You will be expected to start on the date provided by the school. We offer enrollment to prospective families upon receipt of withdrawals. Please be mindful that families are only required to provide a 30-day notice. As such, we cannot always predict when spaces will become available for future enrollment beyond 30 days.
Selection Process
Families are selected based on their position on the waitlist, desired start date, and children's date of birth. Priority is given to siblings of children currently enrolled, alumni, and children of employees. If you are selected, we will notify you by email.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition rates are considered fair and reasonable considering the current market value. Increases may occur annually. Parents will be given a 30-day notice in the event of an increase. Some financial aid is provided to families whose income and family size either falls within the national poverty line and or below the DC living wage scale.
